Pinto Soup Beans In The Crockpot

There's nothing that tastes better than a big ole pot of soup beans and cornbread. They're good for you, inexpensive, and they cook up perfectly in the crockpot.

  1. Step 1

    Look through the beans removing any bad beans or small rocks, then thoroughly rinse and wash the dry beans until the water runs clean.

  2. Step 2

    Add the beans to a 4 quart crockpot and cover with water. These measurements are approximate, use enough water to fill the crockpot to about 1 inch below the top. Add in salt and Crisco. 

    I like to start them cooking right before bed around 11pm and let them cook on high until the next day around noon, then just turn them to low until we're ready to eat.
