New Jersey Diner Style Tuna Melt

I love a cold tuna salad sandwich but until now I had never had a hot tuna melt - boy what was I waiting for! This has become my favorite little lunch treat to make for myself and I make it in the air fryer and it doesn't heat up the whole kitchen, either!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Step 1

In a bowl, mix the tuna, mayonnaise, onion, parsley, and vinegar. Season with salt and pepper.

  2. Step 2

Place the bread slices in the air fryer for just a minute to lightly toast them (You can also do this in a regular oven on broil)

Remove from heat, and spread one slice of bread with the tuna salad. Place 1 cheese slice over the tuna salad, layer with a tomato slice, and top with remaining cheese slices. Sprinkle on a little paprika (I only use one piece of cheese)

Put the sandwich back in the air fryer at 350 degrees for 1-2 minutes each side, melting the cheese (Again you can use the broiler in the regular oven, too)

Note

I have had this recipe from All Recipes pinned for A LONG TIME and I am so happy that I finally got the chance to try it! I halved the recipe because I'm the only one at my house that likes tuna and really this would make two "regular" sized sandwiches, lol and I tweaked it just a smidge for my tastes and to make it in the air fryer, too.

  1. Oh thanks so much for catching that, and so sorry I missed it! I used about 1/8 cup of mayo and I have updated the recipe so now you can print or pin it with all the correct ingredients and info. Thanks again so much for letting me know and for watching my videos and using my website to save your favorite recipes. It makes me really happy to know that it’s useful to you! Have a wonderful weekend!
