New Jersey Diner Style Tuna Melt
I love a cold tuna salad sandwich but until now I had never had a hot tuna melt - boy what was I waiting for! This has become my favorite little lunch treat to make for myself and I make it in the air fryer and it doesn't heat up the whole kitchen, either!
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Step 1
In a bowl, mix the tuna, mayonnaise, onion, parsley, and vinegar. Season with salt and pepper.
-
Step 2
Place the bread slices in the air fryer for just a minute to lightly toast them (You can also do this in a regular oven on broil)
Remove from heat, and spread one slice of bread with the tuna salad. Place 1 cheese slice over the tuna salad, layer with a tomato slice, and top with remaining cheese slices. Sprinkle on a little paprika (I only use one piece of cheese)
Put the sandwich back in the air fryer at 350 degrees for 1-2 minutes each side, melting the cheese (Again you can use the broiler in the regular oven, too)
Note
I have had this recipe from All Recipes pinned for A LONG TIME and I am so happy that I finally got the chance to try it! I halved the recipe because I'm the only one at my house that likes tuna and really this would make two "regular" sized sandwiches, lol and I tweaked it just a smidge for my tastes and to make it in the air fryer, too.
