Homestyle Green Beans Crockpot Version

Homestyle Green Beans Crockpot Version

It's easier than you think to make regular grocery store canned green beans taste like they've been cooking all day long on Mamaw's stove. And this version is even easier slow cooking them in the crockpot.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Step 1
Cut the bacon into small pieces and cook with onion over medium heat until the bacon is fully rendered and crispy and the onions are transparent.

Spray the crockpot with cooking spray and add green beans, chicken broth, pepper, the bacon and onions along with the bacon grease, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Stir making sure the bacon drippings are getting mixed in well. I don't even use salt most of the time because the bacon gives the beans plenty of flavor.

Cover and cook on low heat for 6 to 8 hours or high heat for 3 to 4 hours or until beans reach your desired level of tenderness.
