Granny’s Chicken & Dumplings

Everyone always asks how my momma makes her chicken and dumplings, well here you go friends. And you're going to be SO surprised when you see how easy hers are to make that you're going to be making this comfort food classic all the time!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a large pot on med high heat melt butter and add chicken broth and bring to a simmer

Meanwhile dust your work surface with some flour and begin making the dumplings by taking each biscuit and placing it on the floured surface and flatten and stretch it out. Make sure to salt and pepper your dumplings well and make sure both sides are covered in flour, too - this will thicken your broth.

When the broth comes to a boil begin adding your dumplings by pinching off bite size pieces and dropping them in the pot. Push them under the broth with a fork and you can move them around a little but DON'T STIR THE DUMPLINGS. When your dumplings are cooked to your liking, Granny likes her to still be just a little doughy, add the drained canned chicken. When the chicken is heated through turn down the heat and add the evaporated milk. Let it simmer but watch it closely so your dumplings don't stick. Granny says chicken & dumplings is not like a soup that you can leave unattended, you might end up with a big pot of glue if you do, LOL!
