Chicken & Dumpling Casserole
Here's a cozy chicken casserole that will leave you feeling like you just set down at Mamaw's table for Sunday dinner. It's all the deliciousness of chicken and dumplings made in an easy casserole.
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Step 1
Preheat oven to 40o degrees.
Melt butter and pour it in the bottom of a 9x13 casserole dish.
Shred chicken and place it on top of the butter.
Sprinkle on pepper, salt, garlic powder and onion powder.
-
Step 2
Whisk together milk and flour (or baking mix) and slowly pour it over the chicken - Do not stir the chicken and flour mixture together.
-
Step 3
Whisk together the chicken broth and can of cream of chicken soup and pour it over the flour and milk mixture - Again do not stir the casserole.
Bake uncovered 35-45 minutes or until golden brown.
Let stand about 10 minutes, mine always looks a little soupy just coming out of the oven but it sets up and gets a little thicker as you serve it up.
Note
This has easily become one of my family's favorite cozy casseroles. I have slightly adapted it from the original recipe I found on Plain Chicken.
