Aunt Cathy’s Cowboy Beans
I have memories of my Aunt Cathy making these beans for as long as I can remember, and my entire family LOVES them! They're warm and comforting, savory and slow cooked and can stand alone as the main dish or a perfect side for any meal or cookout. Give them a try and I know they'll become a favorite at your house, too!

Step 1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Brown ground beef and onion together and drain excess grease.
In a covered bean pot (a Dutch oven or covered Pyrex dish will do fine) combine ground beef and onions with remaining ingredients and salt and pepper to taste.
Bake covered for 1 hour, remove and let stand covered 5 minutes before serving.
Note
This is a dish I've loved for as long as I can remember, I even included it in my recipe box that I made my freshmen year of high school in my Home Economics class. I love making it for my family now and sharing it with you, too. We almost ALWAYS have it with fried tater cakes so be sure to grab that recipe while you're here!
