A Little Summer Recap & What’s Coming Next

How've You Been (1)

Hey friends,

It’s been a whirlwind spring and summer here in the kitchen — and out and about! Before we welcome my favorite season (hello, fall 🍂), I thought I’d share a little behind-the-scenes recap.

Spring on Tybee Island & Savannah
We kicked things off with a relaxing trip to Tybee Island, Georgia. Our little cottage was just a short walk to the North Beach and lighthouse, and we spent our days with sandy toes, porch swings, and gorgeous sunsets and seafood at AJ’s Dockside. We also made a stop in Savannah, where the azaleas were in full bloom. If you ever go, I highly recommend the historic walking tour; we learned so much history and ended the day with dinner and their “world-famous” beignets at Huey’s on the River.

Yard Work & Home Projects
Back at home, we tackled the not-so-glamorous side of life — yard work! After a big excavation project earlier in the year, we finally got everything leveled, seeded, and strawed. Now with the grass really coming in, the yard finally feels like home again.

Live Cooking at the State Fair
One of the most exciting things this summer was teaming up with my friends at Jammin Jams for live cooking demos at the Tennessee State Fair. We shared recipes like raspberry chipotle smoked cream cheese, bite-sized strawberry cheesecakes, and even a pineapple jalapeño breakfast hash. We had a blast meeting some of you there! Plus, the good folks from Sweet Baby Ray’s spoiled us with all their newest sauces to try.

Looking Ahead
I hope your summer has been filled with fun, family, and plenty of good food. It warms my heart knowing so many of you have made my recipes for your cookouts, picnics, and dinner tables.

Fall is just around the corner, and I’ve got so many cozy, delicious recipes planned for you — casseroles, crockpot favorites, holiday treats, and more. Make sure you’re subscribed so you don’t miss a single one!

Thanks for being here. You make our little corner of the internet the best place to be.

Love from my kitchen,

Mel
